The real‐world Batu Caves in Selangor, Malaysia is a major Hindu pilgrimage site, especially for the Tamil community during the annual Thaipusam festival. At the LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort, within the Miniland section, there is a detailed LEGO recreation of the iconic site — including the gold-painted statue of Lord Murugan.
In real life the statue measures 42.7 metres high and is the tallest statue in Malaysia; the LEGO version uses 75 types of gold LEGO elements and around 7,000 LEGO pieces altogether. This miniaturised version allows visitors to appreciate the landmark in “brick” form, as part of the “Amazing Malaysia” Miniland display.
