Kuching Heritage Lights & Floral Festival 2025 Kicks Off with a Magical Night

KUCHING – The Kuching Heritage Lights & Floral Festival 2025 officially began with a spectacular opening night, transforming the Kuching Waterfront into a dazzling spectacle of light and floral artistry. Held from October 5 to 8, the festival is open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM, offering free admission for all visitors.

🌟 Opening Ceremony: A Grand Start

The festival was inaugurated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who activated several landmark lighting installations across key city locations, including the DBKU headquarters at Bukit Siol, the Kuching Waterfront, and the E-Penambang river transport hub. This marked the official commencement of the city’s highly anticipated celebration of heritage, light, and nature.

💡 E-Penambang Light Parade

One of the festival’s highlights was the E-Penambang Light Parade. Nine newly introduced electric-powered Penambang boats (e-Penambangs), adorned with colorful lights, glided gracefully along the Sarawak River, creating a mesmerizing visual display. The innovative use of sustainable energy combined with artistic lighting brought a modern twist to traditional river culture.

🌺 Floral Festival Exhibition

The festival also featured a curated floral exhibition, showcasing creative and intricate floral arrangements paired with stunning light installations. The exhibition reflects the harmonious blend of nature, art, and Kuching’s rich cultural heritage, providing visitors with countless photo opportunities and moments of awe.

Decorative lighting was not limited to the waterfront. Key areas across Kuching were illuminated, including:

The evening culminated in a vibrant fireworks display launched near the DUN complex, lighting up the Kuching skyline and adding a spectacular finale to the festival’s opening night.
