Taman Negara is a national park in Peninsular Malaysia. It was established in 1938 and 1939 as the King George V National Park.

The National Park is considered as one of the oldest land mass in Peninsular Malaysia of more than 130 millions years old.

Taman Negara, which translates to “National Park” in Malay, is one of the world’s oldest tropical rainforests, estimated to be over 130 million years old. Spanning 4,343 square kilometers across three Malaysian states—Pahang, Kelantan, and Terengganu—the park is a haven for diverse wildlife and offers various eco-tourism activities, including jungle trekking, river cruises, and canopy walks.

Beautiful park! Untouched nature everywhere. Possibility to spot large wild animals of zero size, but you can make up for insects, snakes, monkeys and birds.

Where is Taman Negara?

Taman Negara is a large national park in Peninsular Malaysia. Located 250 kilometres northeast of Kuala Lumpur, it is spread across the states of Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu. It takes three to four hours to drive from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Tahan, the main entry point for the national park.

How many days do you need in Taman Negara national park?

For example, this Taman Negara hiking tour fits in a three-hour hike to Teresek Hill (my favourite place in the national park) as well as a boat ride to the Orang Asli village. Ideally, I’d recommend spending at least two or three days visiting Taman Negara to fit in more of the activities in my Taman Negara guide.
