Located on Jalan Raja Chulan, the museum is housed in a historical Neoclassical building dating back to 1928.
Originally used as a manual telephone exchange office and later a storage facility, the building was revitalised in 1985 when Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad proposed turning it into a national heritage site. Telekom Malaysia then restored the site and opened it to the public as a centre dedicated to telecommunications history.
