Malaysia Visa Requirements for Indians

A Malaysia visa allows foreign nationals to enter and stay in the country for a specified period, depending on the visa type. The visa may be for tourism, business, or transit, and requirements can vary by nationality and the purpose of travel.

Indian citizens generally require a visa to enter Malaysia, but can apply for an eNTRI visa for short-term stays or a visa on arrival under specific conditions. For a Malaysia visa, you’ll need a valid passport (min 6 months validity), recent passport-size photos, a completed visa application form, and proof of accommodation and financial means.

Types of Malaysia Visas

1. Malaysia eVisa:
   • Tourist Visa: Indian passport holders can apply for a Malaysia eVisa online, which allows stays of up to 30 days.
   • Business Visa: Requires an invitation letter from a Malaysian company for business travelers.
2. Visa-on-Arrival (VOA):
   • Indian nationals can apply for a Visa-on-Arrival, but it is only issued at certain Malaysian international airports. Verify the current rules before traveling.
3. Multiple-Entry Visa:
   • For frequent visitors, a multiple-entry visa allows multiple entries during a specified period. Ensure to check the eligibility criteria.

Visa-Free Entry (Effective from 1st December 2024)

• Indian nationals are allowed to enter Malaysia for up to 30 days without a visa. The return or onward journey ticket must be booked within this 30-day period.
• The Malaysian government has announced the extension of visa waiver for Indian nationals travelling to Malaysia until 31 December 2026, for up to 30 days, for business, tourism, social and transit purposes. In addition to this, travellers are required to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC).

• Required for all travelers to Malaysia. This document gathers personal details, travel information, and health status.
• MDAC Can be submitted electronically before departure not earlier than 3 days or upon arrival at the Malaysian Airport.

Required Documents for Visa Applications

1. Malaysia Business Visa:

• Color scan of the passport (front and back, including any old passport).
• Passport validity of at least six months.
• Recent passport-size photo (white background, no glasses).
• Confirmed flight and hotel bookings.
• Invitation letter from the Malaysian company.
• Original covering letter (if required).

2. Malaysia Tourist Visa:

• Color scan of the passport (front and back, including any old passport).
• Passport validity of at least six months.
• Recent passport-size photo (white background, no glasses).
• Confirmed flight and hotel bookings.
• Minors need a birth certificate and sponsorship letter, if applicable.

3. Malaysia Arrival Card:

• Valid passport with at least six months of validity.

Visa Application Process

eVISA

1. eVisa is applicable for foreigners (non-Malaysian) who require a visa to enter Malaysia. (eVISA is not applicable for foreigners residing in Malaysia, Singapore, and countries that do not has a diplomatic relationship with Malaysia) 
2. Applicants must submit an eVISA application from the country of residence.
3. Online application available at malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my. Detailed information, instruction, terms, and conditions of the eVISA application are also available on the website.
4. All applications and payments are to be submitted online. Relevant fees/charges for eVISA are:
   • Visa Fee: according to the nationality
   • Processing Fee: RM105
   • Convenience Fee:  a. e-Commerce / Mastercard Payment (0.8% from the transaction amount)
   •                                 b. eWallet: Alipay / WechatPay / UnionPay (1.7% from the transaction amount)
5. All required information must be provided, and please ensure all uploaded documents fulfilled the required specification to avoid rejection.
6. A copy of the approved eVISA must be printed on A4 size paper. The printed eVISA must be presented at Malaysia entry checkpoints upon arrival.

Authorized agent to process eVisa  *as of 15 November 2022

1. To ensure smooth applications of eVisa to enter Malaysia, the Malaysian government has appointed three (3) authorized agents which are Malaysia Visa Application Centre (Malaysia VAC), the Malaysia Visa Service – VLN, and Malaysia Visa Application Centre (MVAC) to process all eVisa applications. 
2. Applications eVisa for the category Foreign Worker will only be accepted through Malaysia Visa Application Centre (Malaysia VAC), Malaysia Visa Service – VLN and MVAC only.

How to Apply for a Malaysia Visa Online

1. Visit the Malaysia Immigration official website.
2. Fill in the applicant details.
3. Complete the payment to receive a confirmation of the visa application.
4. Submit required documents and await verification by the visa experts’ team.
5. Once approved, the visa will be emailed to you.

• Malaysia eVisa: 3 to 5 business days, once all documents are submitted.

• Malaysia eVisa (Tourist/Business):
  • Single-entry visa: USD 25 onwards.
