Kuala Lumpur, May 19, 2025: Big news for regional trade & travel! Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook has announced that a direct rail cargo service between Kuala Lumpur & Bangkok is set to begin later this year, with full Cabinet and PM Anwar Ibrahim’s support.

A KL–Bangkok passenger train might also be making a comeback soon!

KTM + State Railway of Thailand have just 3 months to prepare for the revival of this iconic route.

Route: Bangkok ➡️ Padang Besar ➡️ Butterworth ➡️ KL
