Malaysia’s trail running community is preparing for one of the country’s most anticipated endurance events as the returns on 4 and 5 July 2026 in Kemensah, Selangor. Celebrating its 12th anniversary, this year’s edition promises a bigger, tougher, and more exciting experience for runners of all levels.

Organized by The Comrades in collaboration with Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya, the two-day event introduces a brand-new 80KM ultra-trail category alongside upgraded race support, extended cut-off times, and enhanced checkpoint experiences deep within the Kemensah jungle trails.

King of Kemensah Trail 2026 Introduces New 80KM Category

The biggest highlight of the 2026 edition is the introduction of the 80KM ultra category, designed for experienced endurance runners looking to conquer one of Malaysia’s most demanding trail races.

The new ultra-distance category comes with:

  • UTMB and ITRA points
  • Special finisher merchandise
  • Finisher T-shirt
  • Trophy recognition
  • Enhanced checkpoint meals and support

The 80KM route features an impressive elevation gain of 2,732 meters through rugged jungle terrain, river crossings, steep climbs, and technical trails.

Runners entering the 80KM and 50KM categories must provide proof of completing at least one full marathon.

Upgraded Checkpoints and Jungle Hospitality

One of the most exciting upgrades for 2026 is the improved checkpoint experience. Organizers have confirmed dedicated chefs and cooking teams at selected checkpoints, especially for the longer-distance categories.

Runners can expect:

  • Hot meals at checkpoints
  • Upgraded beverages
  • Free-flow post-race meals
  • Recovery refreshments

The organizers describe the upgraded checkpoint support as “another level” compared to previous editions.

Mandatory Gear Requirements

Participants in the 18KM, 30KM, 50KM, and 80KM categories must carry mandatory safety equipment including:

  • Hydration bag or bottle
  • Whistle
  • Emergency blankets
  • Headlamp with spare batteries
  • Mobile phone
  • Energy food
  • Collapsible cup and bowl

Random checks will be conducted during the race, and penalties or disqualification may apply for missing equipment.

Eco-Friendly BYOB Race Concept

King of Kemensah Trail 2026 continues its sustainability initiative through a Bring Your Own Bottle/Cup policy. Disposable cups will not be provided at checkpoints or race venues.
