China Eastern Airlines Launches Taiyuan-Kuala Lumpur Route

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 September 2025 – China Eastern Airlines has launched its inaugural direct service connecting Taiyuan and Kuala Lumpur, enhancing Malaysia-China air connectivity. Flight MU859 touched down at KLIA Terminal 1 via Wuhan, marking a key milestone for tourism and trade links between northern China and Malaysia.

The airline will operate the route four times weekly using Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 175 seats, offering convenient travel for both business and leisure passengers.
From January to June 2025, Malaysia welcomed 2.2 million Chinese visitors, a 35.6% increase from 2024. This new route is expected to further boost Chinese arrivals ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).
Tourism Malaysia continues to collaborate with international airlines and stakeholders to strengthen connectivity and promote Malaysia as a premier travel destination between Taiyuan and Kuala Lumpur.
